Driver's Education Requirements in PA
Before jumping into any lessons, it’s important to be aware of Pennsylvania’s various driver’s education requirements.
Age Requirement for Driver’s Ed: You need to be at least 16 years old to start a Driver’s Ed course. The theory course can be started as early as age 15.
Driver’s Ed Required Hours: To get your license before the age of 18, the state of Pennsylvania requires at least 30 hours of driving education courses. Additionally, you need to complete a minimum of 65 hours of supervised driving practice, including night driving and bad weather driving before applying for your junior license.
PA Driver’s Permit: To get your learner’s permit in Pennsylvania, you need to complete a physical examination by a physician, get a vision screening, and pass a driving theory test. If you’re under the age of 18, you also need to get a parent or guardian to complete a consent form.
